ATF withdraws direct final eZ Check transfer rule
ATF withdrew its May 6, 2026 direct final rule on licensee eZ Check verification for transfers after receiving adverse comments. The withdrawal took effect July 6, 2026, so that direct final rule did not become operative. ATF said it may pursue a future proposal addressing the comments. Dealers should not treat the withdrawn rule as a current requirement.
